Nelson and Colne College Sixth Form is conveniently located just off Junction 13 of the M65 motorway, at the gateway to the village of Barrowford and close to Nelson town centre. Nelson is well served by public transport and prospective students will find that there is a wide range of travel options available to get to College.
Students can park on our secure, barriered car park. To apply for a permit, visit Student Services on Enrolment Day. Disabled parking is also available for blue badge holders. Students will need a College ID and car park permit in order to access the car park.
Students are encouraged to cycle to College where possible. Not only is this the greenest way to travel, but it’s beneficial to your health too! The College has a large covered bike shed for storing your bikes during classes.
There are numerous bus services which operate in the area. The majority of services in Pendle stop at Nelson Bus and Rail Interchange and some stop outside the College on Scotland Road. A regular bus service operates between the Interchange and College, or alternatively the College is approximately 10 minutes walk from the Interchange.
All 16-18 year old students are eligible for subsidised termly bus passes, available to purchase from Student Services. You may also be eligible for FREE bus travel if your household income is under £30,000 and you live over 1 mile of college.
All full-time 16-18 students are eligible for financial assistance with travel to college.
Many students choose to buy a subsidised term pass from Student Services. The cost to the student will depend on where they live and in some cases the service(s) being accessed. Students entitled to the College Bursary Fund are eligible for a free term bus pass.

Transdev passes are valid on all services within the specified zone. All passes are valid seven days a week and include travel during half term and all College holidays.

Some students may need to get a pass for Lancashire County Council run local services (e.g. 7/7a, 65 and 95). Prices vary per term. Please enquire for more details.

The College can be accessed via an hourly train service which operates between Colne and Preston. The direct route covers the following stations: Preston, Blackburn, Accrington, Huncoat, Hapton, Rose Grove, Burnley Barracks, Burnley Central, Brierfield, Nelson (for the College) and Colne.
