Qualification: City and Guilds Level 2 Certificate for IT Users Type: Vocational
Entry Requirements: 4 GCSEs at grade D or above including Maths and English at grade 3 Start Date: Sept 2017

The career opportunities within the IT industry are vast and constantly growing to meet the demands of the latest technologies. If you want to work in this innovative industry, our IT courses are a great way to start.

You will embark upon a one year study programme, which will help you develop IT skills for the workplace. You will take part in IT related work experience, Maths and English if required, enrichment opportunities and you will build personal skills such as team-working, communication and organisational skills.

You will have the chance to complete the NCS Ambitions Programme, which includes CV writing, interviews, presentation skills and much more. The NCS Ambitions Programme will get you ready for the world of work.

 

Units will include: 

  • Improving productivity using IT
  • Setting up IT systems
  • IT Security
  • Using the Internet
  • Collaborative technologies
  • Mobile IT devices

You will be assessed via two task based internal assignments, issued by the tutor.

You will be invited to take part in a variety of trips and visits, some of which will include a nominal fee.

The ICT department is well equipped with up-to-date technology and we strive to keep abreast with all modern improvements and developments.

Former students are studying at a number of top universities including the University of Leeds, the University of Central Lancashire and the University of Huddersfield, reading degrees such as Computer Animation, Computer Forensics, Information Management and Computer Game Design.

Due to the high demand for skilled IT professionals, there are a wide range of careers available in many industries, from working on an IT Help Desk, Developing Software and Managing IT Systems to designing Computer Games or working on Animated Film productions.

Students can also apply for one of our Apprenticeships with top local companies.
