|Burnley FC Shadow Youth Team (Sport) Level 2|
|Entry Requirements:||4 GCSEs at grade 3/D or above including either Maths or English, or a Level 1 equivalent in this area and GCSE Maths or English at grades 3/D or above. Plus a successful trial.|

The Burnley FC Shadow Youth Team is a unique programme for aspiring footballers. Successful players will represent Nelson and Colne College in partnership with Burnley FC in the Community as part of the British Colleges Leagues. This one year course will highlight the variety of opportunities available within the sport and leisure industries, as well as developing your footballing skills.
Depending on your academic and football performance level ability, we can design the programme around you, to help you develop the skills and knowledge needed to meet your career aspirations.
Alongside the programme you will receive professional football coaching from our Burnley FC Coach, as well as opportunities to compete at local, regional and possibly even a national level.
What will I learn?
The units you study will depend on your GCSE grade profile, however, they may include;
• Fitness testing and training
• Practical sports
• Anatomy and Physiology
• Sports development
• Planning and leading sports activities
• Nutrition for sports performance
• Principles of coaching studies
• Gym-based fitness instructing
How will the course be assessed?
The units are assessed using a variety of different methods including written assignments, PowerPoint presentations, group work, practical assessments and competency based assessments.

Materials and other information
There are a range of recommended reading materials for this programme. Students are required to purchase sports kit, polo tops and hooded sweatshirts. The remaining attire is general sportswear e.g. shorts, tracksuit bottoms, and suitable footwear, indoor and outdoor. Please note suitable footwear for the 3G pitch is either sports trainers, moulded boots or astro trainers.
Progression and Careers
At the end of this programme you will gain a portfolio of qualifications to include Level 2 Fitness Instructing, Level 1 Coaching and Level 1 FA Coaching, which will be an excellent grounding for further study at Level 3.
