Level 2 Burnley FC Shadow Squad (Sport)

 

Our Level 2 programme is designed as a flexible route for aspiring footballers to progress onto higher level courses, employment or into the world of professional football.

Depending on your academic and football performance level ability, we can design the programme around you, to help you develop the skills and knowledge needed to meet your career aspirations.

Alongside the programme you will receive professional football coaching from our Burnley FC Coach, as well as opportunities to compete at local, regional and possibly even a national level.

You will have the chance to complete the NCS Ambitions Programme, which includes CV writing, interviews, presentation skills and much more. The NCS Ambitions Programme will get you ready for the world of work.

 

 

The units you study will depend on your GCSE grade profile, however they may include

  1. Fitness testing and training
  2. Practical sports
  3. Anatomy and Physiology
  4. Sports development
  5. Planning and leading sports activities
  6. Nutrition for sports performance
  7. Principles of coaching studies
  8. Gym-based fitness instructing

 

The units are assessed using a variety of different methods including written assignments, PowerPoint presentations, group work, practical assessments and competency
based assessments. 25% of this qualification is externally assessed and 75% of coursework is internally assessed.

There are opportunities to represent the College in sports teams.

The College recently launched a multi-million pound sport facility to include a high-tech, 3G pitch and multi-use games area with an extended fitness suite. Students will also have access to a spacious six court sports hall with climate control.

Sports students are expected to engage fully in all aspects of the course including all practical work as well as classroom based units. All sports students wear a uniform which comprises of a polo shirt and a hooded sweatshirt.

Students are required to wear suitable sports attire including shorts, tracksuit bottoms and appropriate footwear such as trainers. The footwear for the new 3G pitch is either sports trainers or moulded football boots. Astro trainers are also suitable.

Successful completion of the Level 2 programme can lead on to a Level 3 qualification in Sport.
