Course Overview

On this programme you will learn advanced technical skills in nail technology including how to apply and maintain nail enhancements, design and apply nail art and how to develop techniques in airbrush design. You will also learn about client care and communication and promoting products and services. You will practise techniques in airbrush design and nail enhancements on real clients within a professional salon environment, developing the advanced skills needed to work in the industry as a Nail Technician.

How will the course be assessed?

You will be assessed through a variety of methods including online testing, assignments, practical assessments in a real working environment and working on reception.

Enrichment

As part of the programme you will compete in the College’s annual Hair and Beauty Show. You will also visit trade shows and industry exhibitions.

Facilities

Distinction Hair and Beauty has three large, stylish and spacious Beauty Salons, which are tranquil and relaxing places to work.

They are fully commercial salons, visited by the general public and you will consequently gain real-life work experience whilst achieving your qualifications.

All our salons are equipped with up-to-date industry standard equipment.

Materials and other information

Students will need to purchase the salon uniform and a beauty kit at a cost of £300.

In order to succeed on this course, you must demonstrate the ability to communicate with a variety of people and possess the desire to provide excellent customer service

Progression and Careers

The majority of our Beauty Therapy students go on to gain full-time work within the industry, working for local salons, hotel and day spas and even on-board luxury cruise liners.

The College also works with salons and spas to offer Apprenticeships in Beauty Therapy.
