Nelson and Colne College are celebrating Adult Learners’ Week, which runs from Monday, June 15th to Friday, June 19th.

An Adult Courses Open Event is taking place from 5pm to 7pm on Wednesday as part of the national celebration, which is now in its 24thyear.

The event will give adults aged 19 and above the opportunity to see the range of courses on offer to them, and take advantage of an “Early Bird” enrolment discount of 10% off full cost courses.

Adult courses are perfect for anybody wanting to progress to University, learn for fun or pursue a new career, and for many coming back to College can open doors that they never thought possible.

This has certainly been the case for NCC success story Stephanie Almond (30), who has finished College life armed with distinctions from her Access to HE Diploma in Health Science Professions. On Monday, she started a new job as a maternity support worker at Airedale Hospital, and in September she will be beginning a Birth and Beyond course at the University of Worcester.

The mum-of-three said: “I was really nervous about getting back into education again and meeting new people, but I have really enjoyed my time at Nelson and Colne College.“I wanted to do this for my family, and they are so proud of what I have achieved.

“You are never too old to go back to College, and if you want something enough you need to work hard to get it – it is all worth it in the end. I am really thankful for the support NCC has given me, and I am now nervous and excited to start my new job.”
