Student Charter
You can expect us to:
- prepare an induction programme which will help you settle into College as quickly as possible
- allocate you a personal tutor within your first week, if appropriate
- provide teaching and learning of the highest quality
- tell you what is required from you; set regular and appropriate assignments; give you clear verbal and written feedback and mark homework/assignments and return them within an agreed deadline
- monitor your progress and attendance and share the information with you, your parents/guardians and/or employer
- give help and advice from Student Services on a range of matters including finance, careers, counselling, childcare and Higher Education
- make available extra help and support if you tell us of any learning difficulty or disability you have
- treat you equally and fairly regardless of gender, race or disability
- tell you about policies and procedures, which might affect you, e.g. Health & Safety, Disciplinary, Equality and Diversity
- provide an ID card which will allow access to facilities
- provide access to the facilities you need in order to help with your studies
- listen to what you have to say about your programme of study and the College in general
reply promptly to any concern or complaint about any aspect of your life at College
We expect you to:
- make an enthusiastic and effective start to your College study programme
- meet regularly with your tutor to discuss and plan your progress
- bring the proper equipment and materials to all activities and be attentive and co-operative in class
- be responsible for your learning, do all work you are given as well as you can and meet all deadlines in order to be successful
- attend all of your classes punctually and inform the College if you cannot attend
- make full use of the opportunities we give you to add to and enjoy your time at College
- make full use of the services and facilities at your disposal
- inform us of any difficulties you may be having which affect your studies
- treat everyone else in the College with courtesy and respect and avoid racist, sexist and other forms of intimidating behaviour.
- help us maintain a healthy and safe learning environment by avoiding noisy and inappropriate behaviour
- carry your ID at all times and be prepared to show it if asked
- stick to the rules and never damage or deface College property
- tell us what you think about the College in an open and honest way
- tell us of any problems as soon as they arise so that we can improve all that we do for you.
