Course Overview

This live online course is designed to equip learners with basic communication skills and grammar knowledge. Students will hear the language and be able to communicate simply to understand and use the language.

What will I learn?

During this course you will be developing four key skills: speaking, listening, reading and writing. There will be great emphasis on interaction, pair or group work. The course will give you the opportunity to practise your language skills with an experienced and supportive teacher. You will improve your knowledge and confidence while learning along with like-minded people.

How will the course be assessed?

Your teacher will monitor your progress by carrying out an assessment at the start of the course. During the course your progress will be checked using a variety of techniques which may include: monitoring of oral work, informal quizzes, setting tasks, question and answer sessions, peer observations and self-assessment. You will have tutorial time during the course in which to discuss your progress with your teacher.

How will I Learn?
• Your course will be delivered by a subject specialist in a live online classroom using Zoom or Teams.
• You will need to be able to access the internet on a device with speakers or earphones.
• Some of the course content will also be accessed via our online learning site ‘Moodle’.
• Once you have enrolled onto the course you will be sent further information from your course tutor on how to get started.
• Your tutor will be on hand throughout the course to offer you support, feedback and guidance.
• No prior skills or experience is required this is Beginners course

Materials and other information

• This course is delivered over a 2 hour session learners attend via an online platform (Microsoft Teams / Zoom) on an allocated day and time. The session will be delivered live by the teacher and learners will be supported to work through the course content. In addition to this, learners will be given access to Moodle (VLE – Virtual Learning Environment) and/or other on-line learning platforms so activities can be completed during and between sessions to record progress and achievement

• You will need to be able to access the internet on a device with speakers or earphones.
