Hairdressing students from Nelson and Colne College have visited Salon International 2014 to see industry experts, top exhibitors and stunning demonstrations!
We went to visit Salon International at Excel in London. Four members of staff accompanied 13 students from Levels 2 and 3, full time and work based. We have previously gone on the trip with an external company. This year we decided to take the minibus and do it ourselves.
On Sunday the students were given free time to do some sightseeing. This included using the tube for the first time, visiting Camden Market and seeing the sighs including Big Ben and the London Eye. On the Monday we travelled to Salon International at Excel, Docklands, London. Here the students visited various stall and bought items such as scissors, temporary colours and products. They also watched lots of demonstrations from companies such as Neal and Wolfe, Wahl and Toni and Guy. They also saw celebrity stylists such as Patrick Cameron and Simon Shaw
Claire Pye, Curriculum Leader for Hairdressing, said, “The weekend was a fantastic experience for all the students! They were a credit to the college and they told me theyt loved every minute! it allowed them to see what they could go onto once they achieve their qualifications and also updated them with lots of current products/styles and equipment. Next year we intend to take all three minibuses and take even more students!”
