Nelson and Colne College Sixth Form is dedicated to providing an ‘all-round’ education which encourages individuality and experience. Our commitment to developing and broadening your skills has led us to create a diverse and valuable extra-curricular programme.
Alongside your academic study, you could broaden your horizons, make new friends and gain additional qualifications, which will enhance your CV or university application. Activities are available at various times throughout the week to ensure that you can fit extra-curricular sessions into your timetable.
The activities offered change each year according to student interest and demand, therefore if there is a club you want to set up, or an activity you wish to try, students can speak to our Student Services Team who will do everything possible to make it happen!
The Duke of Edinburgh's Gold Award is a nationally recognised programme which aims to inspire, guide and support young people in their self-development and recognise their achievement. The programme is highly valued by universities and employers who are seeking well motivated, tenacious and hardworking individuals. It is therefore a valuable asset to your C.V.
Nelson and Colne College Sixth Form offers students the opportunity to undertake the Duke of Edinburgh’s Gold Award. The whole award can take between 18-24 months to complete if you are determined, although the expedition section is completed within 9 months (September to June) through College.
It is not necessary for you to have completed the Bronze or Silver Award previously, but it will take you a little longer to complete the full award.
