Reaching Your Potential

Our Teachers, Tutorial Support and Target Setting

One of the things that makes Nelson and Colne College Sixth Form so successful is the dedication of our teaching staff, who are highly trained professionals, committed to helping you to achieve your best.

Many of our teachers are examiners and inspectors, and so they know exactly what the examination boards are looking for. In addition, their continued professional development ensures that they are up-to-date with industry developments and can ensure that Nelson and Colne College Sixth Form remains at the forefront of education.

At the start of your first week, you will be assigned a Personal Tutor, who will remain with you throughout your time at College. During your induction you will be set target grades based on your GCSE results. Weekly sessions with your Tutor will ensure that you are on track with all your lessons and course work, and are coping with the workload and achieving your potential.

Your Personal Tutor will also be keeping a close eye on you to make sure that you are happy and settling in well. If you are unsure about your course choices, your finances, or anything else, your tutor, or a member of our dedicated Students Services Team will be only too happy to help and offer advice.
