Anna came to Nelson and Colne College Sixth Form from Bowland High School in the beautiful Ribble Valley, choosing to study a challenging A Level programme including Chemistry, Biology, Maths for Science and English Literature.
Anna has been a keen participant in the College’s Duke of Edinburgh (DoE) programme, which is a nationally recognised award, favoured by universities and employers. The College is able to assist its students as they progress towards the top award offered by the DoE – the Gold Award and this is part of a wider extra-curricular at the College which includes pre-professional programmes, volunteer work, first aid and sport academies. She has also worked as a Student Ambassador whilst at College, which will greatly enhance her CV and university application.
Anna said, “Nelson and Colne College Sixth Form is an amazing place and everyone’s really friendly. I came knowing no one and made loads of brilliant friends on my first day and have never looked back. I also think all of the staff are really supportive and I especially like the open door policy in all the staff rooms!”
After completing her A Levels and achieving her Duke of Edinburgh’s Gold Award, Anna was able to take up her place to read Education and Special Educational Needs at the University of Cumbria.
