Support for Gifted and Talented students

At Nelson and Colne College Sixth Form, we are committed to your success and offer excellent support for able, gifted and talented students which includes preparation for applying to Oxford, Cambridge, 1994 Group and Russell Group universities. These universities require the top grades and have a very exacting interview process and so we will guide you through this process to heighten your chances of entry.

Our gifted and talented programme aims to develop students’ intellectual understanding and expression in a way which makes them stand out from the crowd, developing higher level skills whilst encouraging breadth and depth of study.

By helping to develop students in this way, we are better able to prepare them directly for the selection processes employed by the admissions teams at highly competitive, top level universities.

Reaching Your Potential

As a member of our gifted and talented programme you will:

• Receive mentoring from members of the Nelson and Colne College Management Team or industry experts who maintain links with College

• Attend visits to top universities including Oxford and Cambridge
• Attend our special Oxbridge Event with your parents to learn how we support talented young people and help them to achieve their full potential
• Receive advice and guidance with the complex application process to top universities and to competitive courses such as Medicine, Dentistry, Law and Veterinary Science
