This course offers students the opportunity to develop skills in Beauty Therapy, leading to employment in a thriving industry which is dedicated to helping people to look and feel their best.
Your study will be mainly practical work mixed with some theory. Work experience in a salon is included as part of the course and you will learn such skills as make-up application, aromatherapy massage, nail art, extending and maintaining artificial nail structures, manicure and pedicure, waxing and other specialist treatments.
In addition to practical skills, you will learn about the importance of excellent customer service, how to promote additional services and the fundamentals of good health and safety. Completing qualifications to Level 3 will mean that you are well placed to take on more senior, even managerial roles.

The glamorous world of Beauty Therapy offers a number of challenging and exciting opportunities and could be your passport to success. Imagine being able to choose to work in a range of different fields such as cruising the world while working as a Beauty Therapist on a Cruise Liner, running your own salon, working in the luxury market at a day spa or health farm or even training to teach Beauty Therapy at a college or training centre. You may choose to work from home as a freelance Beauty Therapist, or you may like the pace and glamour of working in a high end city salon.
Once qualified you could undertake a university degree and specialise as a make-up artist working in film, television or theatre.

Kelsi Ingham
Spa therapist on board a lucury cruise liner!
Kelsi joined Nelson and Colne College Sixth Form from Unity College to study for qualifications in Beauty Therapy. Kelsi has done fantastically well and her talents were recognised when she was selected from hundreds of applicants to work for Steiner – a specialist spa company which operates in resorts and in luxury spas on board cruise liners across the globe. Kelsi’s first assignment was on-board a cruiser liner in the Caribbean!
