The Hairdressing Industry is a fast moving and glamorous world which offers many challenging and exciting opportunities. Your study will be mainly practical work mixed with some theory. Work experience in the College salon is included as part of the course.
Nelson and Colne College has an enviable reputation for helping to prepare students for entry into careers in this industry. You will study all aspects of hairdressing and barbering, depending on the course of study you choose, including shampooing, scalp conditioning, hair extensions, styling and colouring, Indian head massage and client care.
You will also learn about the importance of excellent customer service, how to promote additional goods and services and the implications of an effective health and safety procedure.
Why choose Hairdressing?
Employment ranges from working in the Film and Television Industry, seeing the world whilst working as a Hairdresser on a Cruise Liner, running your own salon, or even training to teach hairdressing at a college or training centre. You may choose to work as a self-employed Hairdresser or you may like the pace and glamour of working in a high end city salon. There are also opportunities to progress to a selection of university courses.
*Students will be required to purchase a salon uniform and kit for all beauty courses. Bursaries are available to eligible students, subject to conditions. Please contact Student Services on 01282 440 209 for more information.
