Through your studies you will look at a wide variety of subjects relating to all the uniformed public services. You will learn about the employment opportunities available, the application and selection process and how you should prepare for them. You will study leadership, teamwork, citizenship, expedition skills, law, criminology and emergency and major incidents.
There will be an opportunity to explore adventurous activities and teamwork, allowing you to participate in and review the benefits of outdoor activities to both your own skills development and to public service work and training. You will also look at the impact of criminal behaviour and how local and national crimes are reported and solved.
In a typical week you will be involved in outdoor activities such as map reading, hill walking and different sports and fitness activities. You will also look at the different Public Services, take part in visits to the different services, sometimes as residential trips or receive presentations from visiting speakers. You will develop a number of practical skills that are linked to your core subjects and gain theoretical knowledge to complement your skills. You will also have the chance to gain extra awards, for example, First Aid, Health and Safety at Work and Self Defence.

Employment opportunities take into account job roles in the whole spectrum of public services, such as the Army, Fire Service, Police Force to name a few.
