Vocational Programmes
Vocational Options are an alternative route to success
Nelson & Colne College offers a wide range of vocational courses, for those students who may not wish to study for A-levels or do not achieve the GCSE grades to do so. Vocational courses are offered at four levels:
Vocational Options
- A work-related or vocational qualification is useful if you have a clear idea of what job you'd like.
- The aim is to equip students with the skills they need for employment and/or further education
- Vocational courses focus on doing things and learning practical skills.
- Some students may be more successful than with more academic options
- An alternative route to Higher Education & Employment
- Most Universities accept Vocational Qualifications such as BTEC National, NVQ, Vocational A-Levels (AVCE)
- For some courses e.g. ICT, Art a vocational course is preferred.
- Vocational learning can and does lead to good, skilled and well-paid jobs
NOT a second class option but a proven alternative route to University and employment.
