We are committed to the safety, and health and wellbeing of all our students. We have a College nurse who can offer advice and support with health-related issues such as:

  • General health concerns
  • Sexual health
  • Quitting smoking
  • Eating disorders
  • Bereavement/grief
  • Mental health
  • Emotional health

We also offer a range of lifestyle and wellbeing services such as the chaplaincy service, extracurricular and sporting activities, and healthy living themed events throughout the year to ensure you get the most out of your time at College.

If you want to talk in confidence about any worries you have, our approachable Counsellor is available for you to speak to privately, to help you manage and overcome your problems. Our Counsellors are professionally trained and widely experienced, and will provide you with a safe and secure place for you to discuss any worries such as anxiety, feeling down or depressed, stress, family and relationship programmes, or any other concerns that may be affecting your progress. This service is strictly confidential.

Student Safety

Nelson and Colne College is committed to creating a safe environment for all students.

During tutorials, students learn about personal safety, both at College and while out and about. We also consider online safety to be of utmost importance and so each week, students can attend workshops about how to stay safe online.

Students can also contact the Student Safeguarding Team to discuss any problems they might be experiencing.
