Course Overview

This fascinating course involves two one year programmes covering a variety of Engineering topics. Year 1 is a Foundation Diploma in Engineering where you will study a range of units such as:
• Engineering Principles
• Delivery of Engineering Processes Safely as a Team
• Engineering Product Design and Manufacture
• Applied Commercial and Quality Principles in Engineering
• Computer Aided Design in Engineering
• Electrical Machines
• Electronic Devices and Circuits

Year 2 is an Extended Diploma in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. There will be lots of opportunities for trips, visits, guest speakers, mentoring and work experience.

What will I learn?

Year 1 is a Foundation Diploma in Engineering where you will study a range of units such as:

• Three Phase Electrical Systems
• Electronic Printed Circuit Board Design and Manufacture

How will the course be assessed?

All units are internally assessed. Each unit within the qualification has specified assessment and grading criteria and a summative unit grade is then awarded at pass, merit or distinction.

Materials and other information

Students are required to purchase a uniform and Engineering kit. The kit includes polo tops with College logo, workshop overall, safety boots, safety glasses, scientific calculator and Engineering drawing equipment. All of these can be purchased through the Engineering department at the College.
