Course Overview

The course involves studying five units, which relate to Biohazard cleaning and cleaning up trauma scenes. Trauma scenes can include crime scenes, police cells, detention areas, residential properties and prison cells. The units look at preparation for and undertaking of cleaning trauma scenes.

What will I learn?

You will be able to clean bodily fluids and remove hazardous items such as sharps and items contaminated by bodily fluids. You will be able to prepare to segregate and remove waste from a trauma scene.

You will be able to handle clinical waste and understand the factors that make handling clinical waste high risk. Both units cover the safe use and disposal of PPE and hazardous items. You will also know about the importance of proper infection control procedures and understand how to prevent dermatitis and other skin conditions.

How will the course be assessed?

It is assessed by completion of online learning modules and a workbook and 1 day of practical assessment at the college.

• QCF Cleaning and Support Services Level 2
• QCF Cleaning Principles level 2
• Further City and Guilds Practical Cleaning Skills
