This programme is aimed at students who have completed a Level 3 course in Engineering or a related subject, or working in the industry, who are looking to study a Higher Education programme locally to progress their career within this sector.
This programme has a number of different subject specialisms that result in different award titles. The title of the award made will depend on the modules completed. The titles of the awards available are:
- HNC Engineering (Electrical and Electronic Engineering)
- HNC Engineering (General Engineering)
- HNC Engineering (Manufacturing Engineering)
- HNC Engineering (Mechanical Engineering)
- HNC Engineering (Operations Engineering)
- HND Engineering (Electrical and Electronic Engineering)
- HND Engineering (General Engineering)
- HND Engineering (Manufacturing Engineering)
- HND Engineering (Mechanical Engineering)
- HND Engineering (Operations Engineering)
Students will attend two days per week for the full-time route.
Part time students will take a selection or modules from the full time programme.
Flexible learning options are also available on this programme.
Full-time: Two days per week over one academic year for HNC, two academic years for HND.
Part-time: One day per week over two academic years for HNC, three to four academic years for HND.
This programme is also available by Flexible Learning, which is a variable combination of Recognition of Prior Learning, in-class teaching, online study and/or short intensive courses. Please enquire for details.

A series of written and practical work is assessed by your tutors and will determine your overall grade.
