Entry Requirements:

Minimum GCSE grade 2 for English and maths. If you don’t achieve these, you will need to complete an initial assessment in English and maths to identify your eligibility for the course.

These requirements may alter dependent on the needs of the employer.

Course Overview

Through undertaking an Adult Care Worker Apprenticeship, you will become a member of the frontline staff who help adults with care and support needs to achieve their personal goals and live as independently and safely as possible, enabling them to have control and choice in their lives.

The programme supports apprentices to make a positive difference to someone’s life when they are faced with physical, practical, social, emotional or intellectual challenges. As an Adult Care Worker Apprentice you will need to have the right values and behaviours developing competences and skills to provide high quality compassionate care and support.

What will I learn?

• Relevant statutory standards and codes of practice for your role
• The barriers to communication, the impact of non-verbal communication and the importance of active listening
• The national and local strategies for safeguarding and protection from abuse
• How to address any dilemmas you may face between a person’s rights and their safety
• Health and safety responsibilities of self, employer and workers

How will the course be assessed?

A range of assessment methods will be used throughout the programme to support the progression and development of your Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours that are all relevant to the apprenticeship standard.

The apprenticeship standard will be achieved via externally assessed End Point Assessments.

This may include:

  • A knowledge test
  • A practical observation
  • A professional discussion
  • A project presentation
  • An interview
