Course Overview

This course would suit a complete beginner who has an interest in digital photography and would like to gain the basic skills required to get the best from digital images and develop their picture capture skills. It will also suit those who have previous basic experience and would like to increase their knowledge and practice of the subject. The course will provide an overview of the digital process from start to finish, from choosing camera settings, to preparing for web or print. If you feel you could do a lot more with your digital camera and would like to explore the digital workflow with step-by-step instructions then this is the course for you.

During this course you will build on your current skills.

Due to Covid19 you need to be prepared to complete live online learning should government guidelines require closure of our classroom or you become unwell and must self-isolate.

How long is the course?
The course is 3 hours per session and is delivered for 5 weeks

What will I learn?

At the end of the course, learners will be able to:
A basic understanding of digital photography
Use their camera out of automatic mode
Have a better understanding of what makes for a good image
Follow verbal and written instructions/including numerical information

How will the course be assessed?

The sessions will be delivered in a classroom on a set day and time. Learners will be supported to work through the course content and will be given access to Moodle (VLE – Virtual Learning Environment) so activities can be completed during and between sessions to record progress and achievement.

Learners will follow simple step by step instructions and demonstrations with peers. A variety of handouts will be available and learners will be encouraged to take notes and share ideas as skills develop.

Progression and Careers

The teacher will use a range of activities to review learner’s knowledge throughout the course and identify any gaps and additional information required
Learners will receive feedback in order to further develop their knowledge
Learners will assess their knowledge at the start of the course and again at the end against the learning outcomes. This allows you to identify how much you have learnt and where you might need to do further study or research.
Learners will also be supported to set an individual target(s) for the course based on personal goals and aspirations.
