Course Overview
Apprentices will be responsible for supporting child initiated and adult led activities based around the needs and interests of each individual child, supporting children’s learning through planned, purposeful play opportunities and educational programmes and working as part of a team to ensure each child feels safe and secure.
Found in a range of settings this apprenticeship is focussed on delivering the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) requirements set by government for the learning, development and care of children from birth to 5 years in both indoor and outdoor environments.

- How babies’ and young children’s learning and development can be affected by their stage of development, wellbeing and individual circumstances
- Extending children’s development and learning through communication
- Providing the very best childcare to every child every day and identifying opportunities for development
- The importance to children’s holistic development of, speech, language and communication, personal, social and emotional development, physical development and literacy and numeracy
How will the course be assessed?
A range of assessment methods will be used throughout the programme to support the progression and development of your Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours that are all relevant to the apprenticeship standard.
The apprenticeship standard will be achieved via externally assessed End Point Assessments.
