41 week course
This programme has been designed for those people already working in the criminal justice sector who wish to upskill and enhance their knowledge, as well as for those people who wish to gain an insight into the nature of crime and the workings of the criminal justice system in order to pursue a career in the varied roles within the criminal justice sector. These include roles as a Probation Officer, Prison Officer or Youth Justice Worker.
The programme is available on a full-time basis over two years or a part-time basis over four years. Students will attend one day/evening per week for the full-time route and will undertake a placement of 120 hours per academic year alongside their academic studies, where they are not already in relevant employment.
Part-time: Either one day or one evening per week for four years.

How will the course be assessed?
A range of assessments are used within the programme, including portfolios, case studies, reflections and presentations. There is one examination in Level 5, which makes up 17% of the assessment of this level.
