Course Overview

The aim of this unit is to develop the learner’s awareness and knowledge of basic skills to get into counselling.

How long is the course?
The course content is designed to take around 10 hours to complete and learners will receive support to complete the course where necessary.
3 hours per week for 2 weeks plus some directed independent study

What will I learn?

Know about the responsibilities of the adult social care worker
Know about the role of the adult social care worker
Know the communication skills needed in adult social care
Know how adult social care workers can meet the communication and language needs of individuals
Know the importance of record keeping in adult social care settings

How will the course be assessed?

Online: Learner will attend weekly online live sessions and also complete some independent self-directed study using the Moodle platform for guidance. The Moodle page includes all resources required along with assessment material to both assess learning and support evidence towards your qualification. Further support and learning can be accessed through the Moodle page, which will support the length of the course with activities, resources and further reading links.

Regular submission of work that will be assessed and reviewed weekly.
Learners will receive feedback in order to further develop their knowledge
Learners will assess their knowledge at the start of the course and again at the end against the learning outcomes. This allows them to identify how much they have learnt and where they might need to do further study or research.
Learners will also be supported to set an individual target(s) for the course based on personal goals and aspirations.
