Course Overview

This course is aimed at individuals who require a CSCS labouring card to get a job within the Construction Industry but don’t currently have the required qualifications.

This course is in preparation for three assessments.
On successful completion of the course you will gain two accredited certificates.

• AIM Awards Suite of Vocational Pathways Qualifications (AIMVOCs) in Construction and Building – Extended Award Level 1
• Level 1 Award in Health and Safety in a Construction Environment.

If you also pass the CITB Health, Safety and Environment test you will then receive a print off which states you passed and your CITB registration number. Once you have passed all tests, we can then apply for your CSCS labouring card.

What will I learn?

During this course you will learn about;

• Working in the Construction Industry
• 10 principles of working in Construction safely
• Principles of risk assessment
• Safe manual handling
• Working at height
• Using equipment
• General health risks in a construction environment.

How will the course be assessed?

The course is delivered over 3 days – 9:30am – 4pm on a Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, unless informed otherwise.

We run the courses on a weekly basis.

All course materials are on our Moodle site, which you will be given access to. Whilst you are learning, you will be answering questions based on topics relating to the Construction Industry.
All responses are multiple choice and you are provided with a score and feedback so that you are able to learn from and develop your choices, if necessary.

Materials and other information

If you are interested, please register your interest in the course and a member of staff will contact you.

Progression and Careers

At the end of each module, you will be asked a series of questions relating to the topic. You will be given a score and feedback based on those answers. There is also a progress and activity completion bar when logged in to Moodle. This makes it nice and clear which parts you have completed/passed and which you have not.

You will be able to discuss this with your tutor if there are any concerns.
