Course Overview
This online course is designed for those who wish to learn how to improve their personal health and wellbeing. Completion of the course enables learners to gain knowledge and understanding of the positive effects of exercise on long-term health and well-being and implementing an exercise plan with the appropriate nutritional requirements.
The objectives of this qualification are to help learners gain an understanding of:
• Impact of diet, nutrition and exercise on their personal health
• Safe and appropriate exercise
• Importance of personal motivation and setting goals and targets.
The course is accessed online via our learning platform, EQUAL.
What will I learn?
The objectives of the course are to help individuals gain an understanding of the impact of diet, nutrition and exercise on their personal health, safe and appropriate exercise and the importance of personal motivation and setting goals and targets.
There are 3 mandatory units in this qualification:
Unit 01 Understand health, well-being and exercise
• Concepts of health and well-being
• Factors that could have a negative impact on health and well-being
• Factors affecting personal motivation
• Basic anatomy and physiology
Unit 02 Understand the role of nutrition in exercise
• Diet and nutrition for exercise
• Energy requirements for exercise
• Fluid replacement for exercise
Unit 03 Plan and prepare for personal exercise and nutrition
• Importance of exercising safely
• Measure personal fitness levels
• Appropriate personal programme of exercise and nutrition
• Evaluating the personal programme of exercise and nutrition
How will the course be assessed?
The course content is designed to take around 100 hours (8 - 12 weeks)
Learners will be given access to a comprehensive online learning platform which will provide them with detailed knowledge and information to support their successful completion of each unit.
A tutor will be assigned to the learner once enrolled, they will support you in your induction and be the point of support throughout the length of the course.
Further self-directed research is encouraged to expand learner’s understanding of key topics.
