Course Overview

Nothing quite says Christmas like putting a hand-made wreath on your front door. With tuition from our teachers, you’ll be creating your own festive wreath using greenery that you have gathered yourself from your garden or other accessible green spaces.

As an extra Christmas gift, Lancashire Adult Learning will be posting a wreath making kit out to you, containing all of the resources you will need to take part in this course (with the exception of greenery, foliage and flowers.)

How long is the course?
The course is 2 hours per week/session and is delivered over 2 weeks.

What will I learn?

This short course will give you the opportunity to learn skills and techniques to make your front door a festive entrance. We encourage people to also personalise their wreaths to their own tastes…You’ll be the envy of all your neighbours!

The course is accredited and a short workbook will be expected to be completed during or after the session to accompany the practical activities.

By the end of the course you will be able to:
Identify seasonal greenery and foliage that can be used to create a wreath
Practice a series of techniques evaluating successes and what you could do to improve next time
Create a Christmas Wreath from scratch following instructions
Evaluate your completed wreath and communicate a personal view about it
Describe the benefits of participating in this course referencing the 5 Ways to Wellbeing

This course contains two accredited units from Open Awards:
Creating an Art or Craft Product (E2)
Following Instructions (E2)
These units are blended into the core content of the course and learners will create evidence for the unit criteria by completing tasks and practical activities as planned by the course teacher. Certification for these units will be provided upon successful completion of the course.

How will the course be assessed?

The course will be delivered live and learners will be supported to work through the course content.
In addition to this, learners will be given access to Moodle (VLE – Virtual Learning Environment) so activities can be completed during and between sessions to record progress and achievement. Other activities include:
Learners should be prepared to carry out practical activities during the live sessions.
Active listening and reflective discussion
Participation in practical art activities during and between sessions

Links to recommended websites and apps will be given to aid independent learning
