Nelson and Colne College in conjunction with Burnley FC in the Community is offering an exciting opportunity for 16 to 18-year-olds to kickstart a career in the fitness industry.
Starting on Thursday, January 19th, we are offering a Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing course. The free course, which usually comes at a cost of between £400-£600, is available to all 16 to 18-year-olds who have C grades in GCSE Maths and English.
The fast-track programme will qualify those who take part to work as an unsupervised fitness instructor in a gym or fitness environment by June this year. Learners will also have the chance to access our BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma programme.
The course will be hosted at UCFB Burnley at Turf Moor on Thursday and Friday mornings from 9am until 1pm and will be completed on Friday, May 26th.
With a focus on the anatomy and physiology of the body’s systems, the course also delves into the principles of training, health and safety, screening clients, planning exercise programmes and delivering exercise programmes.
Additionally, participants who are interested can receive eight hours of dedicated football coaching, delivered by qualified Burnley FC in the Community coaches. This element of the course may provide the opportunity to play in the Burnley FC Shadow Youth Team in fixtures against other professional clubs and to study the FA Level 1 Certificate in Coaching Football in June 2017 at a reduced price. A full Burnley FC training kit and tracksuit will be provided.
