Adults with a passion for health and fitness still have time to begin training for a qualification with Nelson and Colne College.

The Personal Training Level 3 qualification begins on Monday, and is open to adults aged 19 and above, who are looking to work in the personal training or fitness sector, and who have a keen interest in exercise and nutrition.

Students need to complete one week of attending College between 9am to 4pm, Monday to Friday, followed by 12 weeks between 6pm and 9pm on Tuesday evenings to complete the course.

NCC’s Head of Sport Charlie Moss said: “We are really looking forward to launching this year’s Personal Training course, and are hopeful we can get many adults on the right path to their dream job.

“It is definitely a great time to be joining the growing sport and culture industry, which is predicted to need 611,000 employees by 2020.”

The qualification aims to provide learners with the understanding and practical skills needed to work as a personal trainer in a variety of settings. This includes understanding health and safety in a fitness environment, customer service, anatomy and physiology, personal training programmes and sessions, and nutrition.

Students must have achieved a Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing to enrol on the course, which will also give them use of the College’s sport facilities, including a fitness suite, 3G pitch, MUGA and sports hall.
