For student Matt Langstroth, it is the overall experience he was offered at Nelson and Colne College that has helped him achieve his dream of studying Medicine at Hull York Medical School!

From getting involved in a pre-professional course in Medicine, to gaining work experience at Airedale and Blackburn Hospital, to taking advantage of alumni visits, Matt, 18, has fully embraced the enrichment, as well as the exceptional teaching, that is available at NCC. Matt achieved two A* grades and an A in Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics.

“I am so relieved this has all paid off”, the former Colne Park High School student said. “My dream is to be a doctor and make a difference to people’s lives and because of my results I can now go on to achieve this.

“My life at College has not been easy, but it has been brilliant – it has developed me academically and as a person as well.

“As long as you work hard and keep yourself organised, you can enjoy yourself as well.”

Matt also praised the excellent student support and the community and welcoming feel of the College and also shared his excitement at making it to University.

Once again Nelson and Colne College staff and students are celebrating a 100% pass rate and a rise in top grades.
