As a prospective applicant of Nelson and Colne College, we know that you will have many questions right now following the Covid-19 (coronavirus) outbreak. Below we have gathered a list of Frequently Asked Questions, which we hope will reassure you and that we will continue to update in line with the latest Government advice. My GCSE exams have been cancelled and the exam boards are going to be working with my teachers to provide my grades over the summer. Will this affect my place at Nelson and Colne College in September?

Dont worry, the college will still offer you a place based upon your predicted grades. Once you have received your results you will be invited into the College to enrol. You will be given an appropriate place on the course, in line with your results.  We know this is a worrying time for all students and we are here to support if you have any queries. The College is now closed and I haven’t had my interview, what happens now?

If youve applied to the College and havent yet had an interview then dont worry, the College will be rescheduling all interviews once we are able to reopen. You will be contacted to advise you of this as soon as we have further details available. In the meantime, please do not hesitate to contact us with any queries.

Will there still be the college New Student Days?

Rest assured, if we are unable to offer you a visit to college for your New Student Event, we will still do everything we can to help you experience and get prepared for College life. We want this time to be as positive as possible for you in the current circumstances, and provide you with all the information and support you need to feel confident and ready for September.

We are currently exploring the possibility of a virtual New Student Day, to ensure you don’t miss out on this opportunity. Further details will be shared with you as soon as possible.

When will I be able to come to the College to enrol on my course?

Details of when to enrol will be sent to you during the summer. All updates will be posted on this webpage and our social media channels also. We will keep in touch, so try not to worry – but if you have a question in the meantime, please do not hesitate to contact our Admissions Team on 01282 440272.

I haven’t completed my application to study at Nelson and Colne College yet. Will I still be able to?

You can still apply to College in the usual ways – we advise that you complete your application online via our website at www.nelson.ac.uk. Our Admissions Team are still working remotely and ensuring all applications are processed. We will notify you once your application has been received. I’ve applied for an Apprenticeship – what happens now?

The Apprenticeship Team will be in touch with you over the coming weeks to look at how they can continue to support you in preparing for an Apprenticeship and providing you with the best opportunities for your future.
