Catering students from the College recently enjoyed an exciting visit to Edinburgh, to sample food and working environments in a variety of restaurants!
The College’s School of Culinary Arts has an outstanding reputation for Catering, both locally and nationally. Students who enrol on the highly popular courses go on to achieve successful careers in the industry, working with some of the best chefs and in the best kitchens in the industry, including Michelin Starred chefs Raymond Blanc, Heston Blumenthal and Nigel Howarth.
The College’s Catering students are gain qualifications and complete their course in a fantastic real-life working environment, working in the College’s stylish commercial restaurant and bistro, Farringtons. Farringtons gives them a taste of life in a real working kitchen and enables them to learn and develop skills that they wouldn’t be able to grasp through mere theoretical work.
Recently, thirteen students from all levels of study left the familiar hills of Pendle for an exciting three day educational trip in Edinburgh! They had dinner at The Apprentice at Edinburgh College and were then shown around the College. On the second day, they had a tour of the Witchery restaurant and rooms, then lunch at 21212, where they were able to meet the renowned Michelin starred chef Paul Kitching and observe the preparation of their own food. The second day was concluded with a thrilling ghost tour! On the third and final day, the students toured the Royal Yacht HMY Brittania and then returned to the College after a quick spot of shopping!
