Female business leaders in Lancashire are being encouraged to support a rewarding event to inspire Nelson and Colne College students and mark International Women’s Day.
The global theme for International Women’s Day in 2019 is ‘Balance for Better’ and thousands of organisations and communities across the globe will join together to celebrate women’s journey towards equality and campaign for a gender-balanced world.
At Nelson and Colne College, 40 female students will celebrate the day by joining Lancashire business women for an event filled with motivation, mentoring and discussion, organised by Lancashire Business Role.
Wendy Bowers, Founder of Role, said: “Our Oysters and Pearls events are facilitated by a superb motivational coach and are full of inspiration, debate and sharing.
“We want the girls to believe in themselves and their future and realise that we have great careers on the doorstep, in addition to a whole world of opportunities they can reach with the right attitude and support.
“Delegates at previous events have told us it was ‘life changing’, and we are thrilled to be invited back to NCC. The feedback from our events at the college is consistently fantastic.
“International Women’s Day is all about unity, celebration, reflection, advocacy and action – whatever that looks like globally at a local level. It has been an annual event for well over a century – and continues to grow from strength to strength – so come and join us!”
Nicolo Manta, Head of Division for Foundation Learning at Nelson and Colne College, said: “The Oysters and Pearls events continue to be hugely successful and boost confidence, self-esteem, ambition and communication skills within our students.
“It is fantastic to have local, successful women helping, guiding and motivating our young women to succeed and achieve their aspirations.”
Role works with women across the country to build confidence, improve management skills, develop succession planning and ensure opportunity for all.
The Oysters and Pearls event will run between 9am and 2pm on Monday 11 March and includes a lunch.
