Nelson and Colne College Sixth Form proves its excellence once again with the outstanding results gained by its Year 2 Level 3 Child Care and Education students in their assignments.

Students at the College have never been in such strong positions to succeed! Data released by the government in 2013 has shown that the College is the top college in the country for A Level Value Added Scores and data produced in the Department for Education’s Schools’ and Colleges’ performance tables also show that Nelson and Colne College is the highest performing college in the area!

Now, Nelson and Colne College Sixth Form’s Level 3 Child Care and Education students have also proved themselves! During their course, the 22 students have to complete three 5000 word assignments – alongside all of their regular study units. These are externally assessed by CACHE, the Council for Awards in Care, Health and Education. The students have successfully completed the first two of these assignments, and so far all students have passed – and every single one of them achieved on or above their target grades in both assignments, often by more than one grade!

This proves that the Child Care and Education students are adding significant value during their time at the College and that the students have a great chance of achieving top grades and progressing into careers or university placements, due to the culture of excellence promoted within the department and College as a whole. Nelson and Colne College Sixth Form has an excellent reputation for student progression into rewarding and challenging careers such as childcare practitioners and primary and early years teachers.

Future Child Care and Education students will be in a better place than ever to perform at their very best. In September, all vocational subjects will be divided into different Pathways to Employment: including Pathway to Play Work and Child Care Practice, and Pathway to Early Years Education and Training. This focus allows the students to shape their College education so finely that they truly stand out from the crowd in job or university applications!
