Nelson and Colne College Sixth Form student Olivia Bythell has recently taken part in a national hockey tournament!

Olivia Bythell, a former pupil of Ss John Fisher and Thomas More RC High School, came to the College from a sporting background. She has played hockey for numerous years as part of the Pendle Forest Hockey club, and when she joined the College she quickly opted to take part in the Netball Sport Academy and other extra-curricular activities including Volleyball.

The seventeen year old A Level student was recently nominated for, and placed second in, the Rising Stars category at the Pendle Leisure Sports Awards!

Alongside this busy sporting schedule, Olivia was training for an important, highly competitive hockey tournament in Manchester: the Sainsbury’s 2014 School Games. During the tournament Olivia participated in the England White Girls team, winning 3-1 against Wales Girls, but unfortunately losing to Ulster Girls. The England White Girls narrowly missed out on a bronze medal to England Blue Girls. Olivia and her fellow teammates should be incredibly proud of themselves, as the Pendle Forest Hockey club and Nelson and Colne College Sixth Form are both hugely proud!

Olivia has managed to strike the perfect balance between her sporting and academic ambitions. Her AS Level results proved just how hard she has worked; she achieved a wonderful A grade in Physical Education, and three B grades in Biology, Geography and Photography.

Nelson and Colne College Sixth Form has a long standing tradition of excellence, and a reputation for promoting excellence among sportsmen and women. The College supports Olivia and her fellow sportspeople in any way possible, as the College is determined to encourage passion, drive and motivation in its students to ensure that each student has the tools, knowledge and skills to truly strive for success!
