Course Overview

This course is part of the NCC Ambitions Programme – a unique programme for Level 2 students, which will support you in developing key personal skills such as communication, confidence, resilience, employability and presentation skills.

This is a one year study programme where you will learn about the skills and attributes needed to become a health and social care professional. You will look at the importance of effective communication, equality and diversity and how to meet the needs of individuals who use health or social care services.

There is also an opportunity to achieve Paediatric First Aid and Food Hygiene certificates, which are part of the mandatory training requirements for those who work in health and social care settings.

As part of the study programme you will complete a variety of activities that could support you in gaining voluntary or paid work in the sector. These professional development activities include CV writing, interview skills, job applications, Health and Social Care mandatory training and taster sessions such as Manual Handling, Fire Safety and Infection Prevention and Control.

How will the course be assessed?

These units will be assessed through presentations, professional interviews, creating posters and leaflets, workbooks and short essays.

Materials and other information

A uniform is required for the work placement unit. You will be offered the opportunity to take part in trips and visits, some of which will include a nominal charge.

Progression and Careers

On completion of this course you can choose to progress onto our Level 3 Health and Social Care programme or onto an Apprenticeship in the sector.
