processes and stitches needed to make different garments.

This course is offered by Lancashire Adult Learning, to enrol on the course please click here.

What will I learn?

The content of the course will be discussed at the first class and will accommodate those techniques you wish to perfect. For example zip application, perfect pockets, seams, facings,
Rouleau loops and buttons, frills, sleeve insertion etc. Discussion at the first session will establish the learning goals for the course.

During this course you will take part in practical activities to help you learn and experience sewing and dressmaking skills and techniques. You may get asked to present your work to
your peers to help everyone develop evaluating skills. Some demonstrations may get recorded for future use as part of the sessions.
 You will be supported by your teacher throughout the course with continuous tutorials and reviews both verbal and written.
 You will have access to a computer to watch you-tube videos to support your learning through Sewing and Dressmaking Beginners
our college MOODLE site. Important and useful handouts can be provided by your teacher upon request to support you in your learning. You will also have access to many resources on
Moodle

How will the course be assessed?

You will prepare your Individual Learning Plan at the beginning of the course with your teacher. In this document, you will set your personal targets or goals such as learning to insert a zip, learn about various stitches or identifying pattern symbols. Your teacher will review your targets and write constructive feedback to help and guide you in your learning. You
will also self-reflect by writing short summary about your learning and achievements gained throughout the course.
You will complete quizzes and simple tasks based upon sewing and dressmaking to assess your learning and progression.
